Day 3

Cachi

In the morning, we'll head to Cachi, a picturesque town located in the province of Salta, Argentina, at the foot of the imposing snowy mountain of the same name, with an altitude of 6720 meters. In Quechua, "Cachi" means "salt," referring to the white color of the mountains, but it is also interpreted as "quiet stone." This charming town, located about 157 kilometers from the city of Salta, is surrounded by imposing snowy mountains and has a pleasant climate and clear skies.

In addition to its stunning natural surroundings, Cachi stands out for its peaceful atmosphere and unique architecture. Most of the houses, painted white like the salt that evokes its name, are built on stone foundations and feature beautiful wrought iron grilles, thus preserving the architectural style of the Spanish colonial period of the 18th century.

In the morning, we'll depart from the hotel and pass through the Lerma Valley until we reach the town of Carril, then continue to the Quebrada de los Laureles and the Quebrada de Escoipe. After crossing the Maray Valley, we'll ascend the Cuesta del Obispo, a winding road that will provide us with impressive panoramic views of the gorge. We'll reach the highest point of the journey, La Piedra del Molino, at an altitude of 3384 meters. Then, we'll pass through the ancient Inca Trail, known as the Recta de Tin Tin, to enter Los Cardones National Park. In Cachi, we'll enjoy stunning views of the snowy mountains and explore the town and its archaeological museum or local church. At the end, we'll return to Salta.

Day 4

Cafayate

In the morning, we'll depart from the hotel to the picturesque town of Cafayate, known as the wine town, where visitors can enjoy tours of the local wineries and taste the regional wines along with the famous goat cheeses, which offer a unique flavor.

Then, we'll head to the Cafayate Canyon. The constant erosion of the river, combined with strong winds and the cold climate of the plateau, has sculpted the rocks into fascinating shapes. Here, we can appreciate unique rock formations, such as natural amphitheaters, figures resembling castles, and more, all marked by different reddish layers.

Upon conclusion, we'll return to Salta. From there, we'll take a return flight to Buenos Aires.
